Biography
Emmy-Award-Winning Reporter Michael Hudak joined 7NEWS in November of 2023 from WINK News in Fort Myers.
Michael won an Emmy Award for his Breaking News coverage of the EF-2 Tornado that hit the Fort Myers area in January of 2022. Michael has been fortunate enough to win 8 “Florida News” Awards.
In 2021, Michael was nominated for an Emmy Award for his continuing coverage of the Surfside Condo Collapse. Michael was also nominated for an Emmy Award in 2022 for his investigative reporting on “The Center For Covid Control” … a Covid-19 Testing Company with 275 Nationwide Testing Sites who are accused of administered fraudulent Covid tests to the general public, then billing the Federal Government claiming that patients were not covered by insurance. Michael’s investigative reporting led to the Company’s Nationwide shutdown within 4 days of the original story.
During his time at WINK News, Michael covered an incredibly dense era of news in Southwest Florida… including the impact and aftermath of Hurricane Ian and Gabby Petito’s disappearance.
Before his time at WINK News, Michael was an Anchor/Reporter at WCTV in Tallahassee. While in Tallahassee, Michael was a recipient of the “Service to America” award for his part in the coverage of Hurricane Maria’s aftermath on Puerto Rico.
Michael is a New York native, went to High School in Danbury, Connecticut, and is a proud graduate of Florida State University. Michael began his broadcasting career as a Sports writer, radio host, and anchor. He’s covered several major sporting events as a writer and radio host, including 2 Super Bowls, the Rose Bowl and the Orange Bowl.
Michael lives in Miami, frequents Miami Heat games with his friends, and enjoys time at home with his girlfriend Gail Levy and their Cocker Spaniel Maggie Mae.
