Biography

Jack Royer co-anchors the weekend editions of 7 News at 5, 6, 10 and 11. He joined WSVN in December of 2023.

Prior to joining the 7 News team, Jack spent nearly 2 years as an anchor and reporter at WFLA, the NBC affiliate in Tampa. He reported live for nearly 24 hours straight from North Port, Florida, during the landfall of Hurricane Ian in October 2022.

Jack was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He comes from a family of broadcasters, growing up in a newsroom where his father, Mike, was a long-time news anchor at WVTM.

He previously served as the main anchor at CBS 42 News in Birmingham, where his work helped earn a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast.

Jack is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he began his career as a journalist at UA’s WVUA 23. At the age of 20, he became the youngest nightly news anchor in America when he was named co-anchor of WVUA 23 News at 10. Today, he serves as a mentor to current students through the College of Communication & Information Sciences’ Oakley Society.

Jack’s first job in broadcasting was calling high school football games on WHPH 97.7FM when he was 14 years old.

Jack lives in Fort Lauderdale with his wife, Lillian, and their son, Michael.
