NEW YORK (AP) — The NHL has suspended Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov four games for clipping Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin.
The dangerous hit occurred in the third period of the Stars’ 2-0 win over Florida on Friday. Kulikov went low and hit Seguin on his right knee moments after the Dallas forward entered his offensive zone and made a pass.
Kulikov was given a major penalty for clipping and a game misconduct.
Seguin was helped off the ice, and the Stars said that the team’s leading scorer will miss three to six weeks with a right-knee injury.
“It’s a dirty, low play that I don’t like,” Stars head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters Saturday in Denver. “The league doesn’t like it, and I want to see the league deal with it.”
A repeat offender, Kulikov will forfeit $93,189.96 in salary.
