SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) -

A seventy-four-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a stranger at her own front door, last Wednesday.

Last Wednesday, at around 6 a.m., a man knocked on the victim’s front door in the Richmond Heights neighborhood, said police. When she opened the door, he forced his way into her home, pushed her to the ground and tried to remove her clothes.

Fortunately, she was able to fight back, and he fled the scene.

“She was fighting for her life when it comes to this,” said Miami-Dade Police Detective Daniel Ferrin. “An individual came into her home, forced his way into her home, and at that point, she fought for her life, and thankfully she did, because today, she is able to talk about this and talk to our own officers in an attempt to help others from becoming victims to his individual.”

Police were able to compose a sketch of the suspect, but more than a week has gone by, and he is still out on the streets, putting the entire community on edge. “It’s a terrible thing to happen in the community,” said Alexander Washington, a concerned resident. “He may knock on my door, although I live here alone.”

Lillie Washington, another resident, said, “Most of the women along here are elderly ladies, seniors, so, we have to look out for each other.”

The man is described as a black male between the ages of 18 to 25 who stands at least 5 feet 5 inches tall and has a medium build.

If you recognize the man in the sketch, please call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
