FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - A yacht that caught on fire behind a home in Fort Lauderdale prompted a swift response by rescue crews.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue units arrived at the scene on Marathon Lane in Fort Lauderdale’s Riverland neighborhood, Wednesday morning.

Smoke was seen coming from the 110-foot yacht’s lower decks.

7News cameras captured firefighters putting out the fire as they worked to keep the flames from spreading to other boats.

Area resident Scott Garten said his wife alerted him.

“When I was on the boat, my wife called me up, she said, ‘There’s fire trucks in the front,’ from the cameras,” said Garten, “but there’s no electrical, so I don’t know how it caught fire. It’s solar panels on there; I would think it’d be the battery chargers.”

No one was on board the yacht when the fire broke out.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
